Two Chicago men sentenced for distributing heroin in SD

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. --  Two Chicago men have been sentenced for distributing heroin in South Dakota -- sometimes trading the drug for firearms..

U.S. District Judge Karen Schreier last week sentenced Clifton Curtis Odie, 42, to 20 years in custody and Robert Andrew Lockhart, 48, to almost nine years in prison.

Last October, co-conspirators Raleigh Dee Thomas, 26, and Stephen Nathaniel Harris, 38, were each sentenced to five years in prison.

An indictment was issued against the group for conspiracy to distribute heroin by a federal grand jury last Feb. 17. All four pled guilty to the charge in 2017.

Starting in 2014, Odie and his associates brought over one kilogram of heroin to Sioux Falls from Chicago and distributed the heroin, sometimes trading heroin for firearms, said the U.S. attorney’s office.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Sioux Falls Area Drug Task Force.
